Why Diagnostics Matter

A successful outcome starts with an accurate diagnosis. Too often, patients receive generalized care that addresses symptoms but ignores the underlying issue.

At Core Alliance, we take the time to listen, examine, and investigate—so you never waste time on ineffective treatments. Our diagnostics are detailed, thorough, and tailored to your unique health concerns.

Our Diagnostic Approach

We combine clinical insight with the latest diagnostic tools to provide a full picture of your musculoskeletal condition. Our evaluations are designed to be efficient and easy to understand, with time built in for discussion and education.

1. Comprehensive Clinical Evaluation

We begin with a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle.

A physical exam helps assess strength, flexibility, range of motion, nerve function, and areas of tenderness or instability.

2. Advanced Imaging

When imaging is necessary, we use high-resolution tools to confirm diagnoses and guide treatment planning. Common studies may include:

  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging): Ideal for viewing soft tissues, discs, nerves, and ligaments.
  • X-rays: Helpful in assessing bone structure, alignment, and joint degeneration.
  • CT Scans: Provide detailed cross-sectional images for complex cases involving the spine or joints.
  • Ultrasound: Often used to evaluate tendons, ligaments, and muscles in real time.

3. Diagnostic Injections

In some cases, we use diagnostic injections—such as medial branch blocks or epidural steroid injections—to pinpoint the source of pain. These procedures provide both information and temporary relief, confirming whether a specific nerve or joint is responsible for symptoms.

4. Electrodiagnostic Testing

For patients experiencing numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness, EMG (electromyography) and nerve conduction studies help evaluate nerve function and determine if there’s compression or injury affecting communication between the brain, spine, and limbs.

Next Steps After Diagnosis

Once we’ve identified the source of your symptoms, our team will work closely with you to develop a tailored care plan. This may include non-surgical treatments like physical therapy, regenerative medicine, or injections—or, if necessary, a surgical solution designed to restore function and reduce pain long term.

Frequently Asked Questions Diagnostics

What should I bring to my diagnostic appointment?

Please bring any previous imaging reports, a list of your current medications, and details about your symptoms, including when they started and what makes them better or worse.

How long does the diagnostic process take?

Most initial evaluations, including exams and imaging review, take between 30 and 60 minutes. Additional tests may be scheduled depending on your condition.

Do I need imaging before coming in?

Not necessarily. If you’ve had imaging elsewhere, we can review it. If not, we can coordinate any necessary studies as part of your evaluation.

Will I get a diagnosis during my first visit?

In many cases, yes. If additional testing is required, we’ll schedule it promptly and keep you informed every step of the way.

Are diagnostic injections painful?

These injections are performed under local anesthesia and often guided by imaging for accuracy. Most patients experience minimal discomfort and find them helpful for both diagnosis and short-term relief.
