At Core Alliance, we offer cervical radiofrequency ablation, also known as rhizotomy, as a non-surgical, highly targeted treatment to relieve neck pain and restore mobility with minimal downtime.
What Is Cervical Radiofrequency Ablation/Rhizotomy?
Cervical radiofrequency ablation (RFA), also known as rhizotomy, is a minimally invasive procedure designed to treat chronic neck pain caused by inflammation or degeneration of the facet joints in the cervical spine. These small joints can become irritated over time due to arthritis, injury, or wear and tear, leading to persistent discomfort. The procedure works by using radiofrequency energy to heat and disable the sensory nerves that transmit pain signals from the facet joints to the brain. By selectively targeting these nerves, cervical RFA offers meaningful relief—often lasting six months to a year or more. RFA is typically recommended after a successful diagnostic nerve block confirms that the facet joints are the primary source of pain.
